World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic game drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase over last year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
